High Street shops are nearby in Palmerston Road and, for those seeking the more unusual, there is an eclectic mix of independent shops in Albert Road, offering antiques, vintage clothing, art and other decorative items.

Portsmouth, the birthplace of Dickens (and Peter Sellers!) is known as ‘The Island City’. It has a vibrant historic waterfront within easy reach of Cavendish Lodge and offers today‚Äôs visitor an intriguing mix of old and new. Those interested in maritime history can see the famous Victory, visit museums and retrace Nelson’s footsteps. Or go back in time around the cobbled streets of Old Portsmouth and Spice Island.

For a modern experience visit the shops, restaurants and bars of Gunwharf Quays. Simply grab a coffee and watch the boats in the harbour, linger over lunch at one of the many waterside restaurants or stay for an evening drink as you watch the sun set around the iconic Spinnaker Tower.
